The Azure Data Fundamentals (DP-900) certification is for individuals who are new to data engineering and analysis in the Azure cloud. This certification assesses essential knowledge of core Azure data services, relational and non-relational data concepts, analytical services, and data visualization tools. It is an excellent starting point for students and professionals who want to build a career in cloud data engineering.
Bu successfully passing the exam, you demonstrate that you are able to describe data architecture components, data services such as data lakes, ETL pipelines and data warehouses, and understand features and tools for ingesting, processing, serving and analyzing business data in the Azure cloud.
After earning the Azure Fundamentals certification, you can advance your learning path by pursuing role‑based associate certifications (for example Fabric Data Engineer Associate) and finish with an expert‑level certification (Azure Solution Architect Expert or DevOps Engineer Expert).
The Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals exam is designed to validate a candidate’s basic understanding of cloud concepts and core Azure services. It consists of 40–60 multiple‑choice questions (the exact number varies slightly from one test to another) and you have 85 minutes to complete it. All questions are scored, and you must achieve a passing score of 700 out of 1000.
The exam mixes several question formats to assess your knowledge. You can expect the classic single‑answer multiple‑choice items, multiple‑select questions where two or more options are correct, drag‑and‑drop questions that ask you to match services with their descriptions, and case‑study or scenario‑based questions that present a short business problem and require you to choose the best Azure solution. There are also occasional fill‑in‑the‑blank questions that test terminology.
There are no labs in the exam. Instead, you'll be quizzed on your grasp of core data concepts (such as relational and non-relational data) and Azure data services (like Azure SQL, Cosmos DB and Synapse Analytics). Make sure you focus your study on these topics and prepare with a practice exam.

This practice set has 75 questions. Just like the real exam, you'll need to answer at least 70% of the questions correctly to get a passing score.
